She is also the President of AMI Canada which is a national organization that provides professional development, parent education and support to schools across the country.
Sandra’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, English and fine art history from the University of Toronto, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education from Loyola College, with a special focus on Children with Special Needs. These qualifications in conjunction with her Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diploma at the Primary level, and a four-year AMI Training of Trainers program have made Sandra an expert on child development and Montessori principles and practices. Sandra has been active in both the public and private education systems, working with children, parents, educators and administrators for over 35 years. She is a past member of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Scientific Pedagogical Committee, as well as the Materials and Translation Committees. As an AMI Director of Training and a past adjunct professor at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland Sandra has spoken across North America as well as in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Such respected institutions as York University, Humber-Guelph University, Seneca College, the University of San Diego and the University of Hartford have invited Sandra to speak because of her world-renowned reputation. In addition to her speaking engagement, Sandra is an AMI Examiner who oversees the examination of students completing their training as AMI Primary teachers at various training centres around the world. Although quite a bit of her time is spent working with adults, Sandra also actively works with children and provides support to schools as a consultant, teacher mentor, and parent educator.
