Dear Montessori Casa Parent Community,
Our Re-Enrolment Deadline for our upcoming 2023-2024 School Year at Montessori Casa is on Friday February 28th 2025. This is a critical deadline every year that establishes the number of externally available spaces for the upcoming school year.
Please prioritize this important task and be sure to check your emails for Re-Enrolment details and guidelines.
Part One: Casa Parent Observation begin from February 10th 2025 until February 21st 2025. Please check your emails to sign up for a date/time to come observe in your child’s class.
Part Two: Following the Parent Observations we will be hosting a Coffee, Tea and Montessori Morning to discuss and share our observations. Parents who observed are expected to attend.
Senior’s Holiday Tea/Concert Rehearsal
There will be a Seniors Tea at the upstairs level of our building on December 11th 2024. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to have a practice run before the big day and also support our local community of elders.
There have been many studies on intergenerational learning for both seniors and children. If your children have grandparents at home or close by, you can affirm to have witnessed a harmonious union. Children understand the importance of elders and these interactions have a calming effect on most children. Our young children will bring energy with them that can be infectious and make a tremendous impact for some elders who may not have family or anything else planned for the holidays. We feel honoured to offer some excitement and give them some joy.
At 2:45 pm we will head upstairs and sing for 10-15 minutes and head back downstairs around 3:00 pm.
Come and join us for a Coffee, Tea and Montessori Morning as we take you on a journey through the math area.
Ms. Stewart and Ms. Malfatti welcome you, as we walk through the three years of mathematical concepts in the Casa environment.
We will explore some of the theory behind the exercises and present some key materials that contribute to concrete experiences and exploration. We will share how children gain an understanding of quantities and the value of numbers to ten, all the way up to the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions. We will discuss how our Montessori materials carve the path towards a deeper understanding and guide our children to abstraction for later work in the Elementary years.
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Format: Presentation and Open Discussion
Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be provided.
Casa Parent-Teacher Meetings will take place on the evenings of November 13th, 14th and 18th and for a full day on the November 15th PA Day.
Casa families, please check your emails to register with your child’s teacher.
In keeping with the guidelines of our AMI Montessori approach we wanted to ensure the children do not come to school in any costumes. Children and staff are invited to dress in orange and black.
Halloween can be uncomfortable and scary for children under the age of six. As educators we want to ensure we are doing all we can to meet the developmental needs of our children. Although we are able to distinguish the difference between reality and fantasy, this is almost impossible for young children under age six.
During the week we will be carving pumpkins, roasting seeds, baking and reading books about the beautiful season of autumn.
